About Cup Classique
Cup Classique, founded in 2022, is a start-up producing herbal and fruit teas that contribute to a closed-loop economy and a ‘slow grow’ philosophy.
Cup Classique's core values are quality, transparency, and social responsibility, which enables us to tackle the most significant and common agricultural issues, making us unique.
What Makes Us Stand Out ?
Our Start-up represents the modern way of business; we are impact-focused and have a clear purpose. Our business model is built on the closed-loop economy, we want only to produce thought-through sustainable products that represent quality, ethics and sustainability.
There is no start-up like ours, our motivation is the love for our planet and people, working on product ranges that create purpose for consumption and enjoyment, at the same time, producing a lifestyle brand that is fitting to our times: conscious, ethical, different and edgy.
There are many problems in the Agricultural industry, from not knowing products' true origin to excess waste and poor infrastructure. Below, we showcase how we are countering these problems, making us unique.
-
Single Origin – Cup Classique cooperates with small-scale farmers and every product is single-origin.
-
Waste Reduction – Cup Classique is committed to using minimal and eco-friendly packaging. Our packaging is produced and printed locally in South Africa. The printing ink is free from arsenic and lead. The plastics are cornstarch-based based and the material used for the teabags are sourced from regulated farms.
-
Closed-loop Economy – Cup Classique has a closed-loop economy, in which we produce multiple ranges from the same product to reduce waste and diversify our range.
-
Infrastructure – Cup Classique grows and processes as close to the source as possible to reduce cost and CO2 emissions and avoid infrastructural problems.
-
Sustainable Farming Methods – Cup Classique harvests wild-grown Rose Hips (a slow-grown philosophy) and Johannesburg-grown mint. Everything is harvested and de-stemmed by hand to reduce waste and damage and increase quality. Additionally, we only work with sustainable farmers who do not use pesticides.
-
Labour Conditions – Since we only work with small-scale farmers, we allow price negotiations between Cup Classique and farmers. We provide farmers with access to the market, and our single-origin production line promotes transparency in labour relations.
